When most people think of wine and Las Vegas the first thing to come to mind are the elegant wine and cheese parties at the beautiful casinos and resorts around town. This is true as many do serve some of the finest wines from around the world in gorgeous crystal stemware along with the finest cheeses served on the best cheese boards.
But there is a new view of wine and the famous city in the desert as wineries are starting to make a name for themselves on the outskirts of town. As surprising as it may seem there are several wineries that are growing world class grapes out in the Mojave Desert and making some fine wines that are being enjoyed not only in Sin City but in other areas as well.
Pahrump Valley Winery has not had it easy from the start as the boiling desert sun makes growing their grapes extremely difficult. But the owners have been able to pull it off and the wine they produce is now starting to truly catch on so when you are in Vegas next time take the time to visit the winery and enjoy the wine they are creating out of the arid desert landscape.
