It is the heat of summer and ice cream is more on people’s minds than anything. But that doesn’t leave wine fans left in the dark. Recently released from Mercer’s Ice Cream are a set of wine ice creams. Yes, wine ice creams. With flavors like chocolate cabaret and red raspberry chardonnay you are bound to find some enjoyment from these summer delights. Reviews say that the wines’ specific signatures are kind of hard to decipher in the ice cream, but they are still unique flavors that are wonderful.
For some extra fun at a special event this summer try to find some of this one of kind ice cream and serve it in arctic frost wine glasses to hint at their distinctive ingredient. Because even if the ice creams do not taste exactly like wine because of the fruit flavors overpowering the characteristics of the wine’s subtle flavors like in the White Peach Zinfandel, Cherry Merlot and Red Raspberry Chardonnay where the wine was barely testable. But then again most of the tests saying this were comparing the ice cream flavors to the wine they were named after and surely compared to a sip of the pure wine, an ice cream using it as flavoring is weakly flavored. Try them to cool down this hot summer.
