When most wine drinkers think of the vineyard their favorite wines come from the vision they see is a beautiful winery in the countryside. Generally this is the case since many acres of farmland are needed to raise the grapes which are used in the wine making process. To be a large farm with plenty of acreage than most often they are located in rural areas. But a new wine is emerging from Queens, and that is the Queens in New York City.
In Flores park the Queens County Farm Museum was able to grow enough grapes right in the middle of the city to produce 900 cases of wine. These wines including a chardonnay and a merlot were completely grown in the park and then sent to Premium Wine Group in Long Island for the processing.
While many agree these wines are not high end premium drinks but they have surprisingly amazing tastes making them popular enough a auction will be held in May to sell the product. With a limited supply to sell, wine lovers will need to be ready to bid if they want to fill their wine bags with this unique city wine.
