Napa Valley is known for its exceptional wines that are usually sold in the premium price range due to the small production numbers and quality of the product. The recent economy troubles though have been especially hard on the wines in this price range though as consumers make cuts in their budgets. Many wineries in the valley are having to make changes in how they do business in order to make enough money to cover operating costs and make a profit.
Many of the Napa Valley wineries are no longer just producing short runs of their premium wines, but instead doing more affordable lines as well. These affordable wines are produced in larger quantities using the same materials and processes but the higher numbers mean placing them in wine baskets is much easier on the pocketbook.
For the wine consumer this is a real treat since they can now enjoy the fine wines from Napa Valley in more table friendly price that will allow them to drink wine daily without spending nearly as much money. While the winery benefits as well with more sales to keep them in business while premium wines are remaining on the shelves for special occasions only.
