Taking The Time To Truly Savor Wine

August 5, 2009 By Rhino Wino

To truly get the most from each glass of wine the person consuming it should take the time to savor every aspect of it from the aroma to the color as well as the taste. Learning to appreciate each facet of a glass of wine is a true form of wine art that many want to master. For those who want to learn this fine art of appreciating a glass of wine to its fullest they simply need to slow down and try to use as many of their senses as possible.
When first given a glass of wine observe the color and note if it is a red wine that is paling or a white wine that is rather dark. The color of a glass of wine can tell you so much about what the flavor will be like.

After the coloring is observed swirl the wine in the glass to arête it some in order to help bring out the aroma. Take the time to smell the wine and try and notice each subtle nuisance that may come out in the taste.

Once this is done take a small sip but instead of swallowing it swirl it around in your mouth to ensure that it touches every part of your tongue. This will help you get a taste of each flavor that is within the wine whether it is sweet or woodsy. Tasting wine completely is a art form that will help you better discover your palette in order to find the best wines available for your tastes.
