So how many grapes make a bottle of wine?

April 17, 2009 By Rhino Wino

So how many grapes make a bottle of wine? The answer to this question is that it varies. It really depends on who manufactured that wine as to how many grapes they use in their bottles. It is fair to say that a less expensive wine does not use as many grapes as a more expensive bottle of wine. For instance, a high quality dry table wine will have anywhere from 600 to 800 grapes in that single bottle. A person can look at a bottle and wonder how the juice from 600 to 800 grapes can fit in that one bottle of wine. However, this is approximately 8 bunches of grape for each bottle. But you can count on some of the best wineries putting in as many grapes as they can possibly fit into that bottle. This is so the wine has a much bolder taste and this does add on to the price tag, but it is very worth it.
But there is something to take into consideration when thinking about how many grapes go into a bottle of wine. That is the fact that fine wine grapes are much smaller than the grapes that you buy on a vine at your local grocery store. This is why wineries are able to fit so many grapes into one bottle of wine, so it is important to not be too shocked at this moment, although 600 to 800 grapes of any size is still a considerable amount. Imagine a wine gift of a bottle of wine that consist of this many grapes or more. That is definitely a great gift to give someone or give to yourself!
