In Western Washington lives a vintner who goes by the motto in life that even terrible things can have some good come out of them. And Sherrill Miller has had this put to the test when in September of 2008 her long time and beloved husband passed away due to complications with the horrible degenerative disease known as Alzheimer’s. By that time in September Ray Higginbotham didn’t remember his or his soul-mate’s names or that he had run E.B. Foote winery for 17 years. He had been reduced to living in the moment. But Sherrill lived by her motto in life and created a Bordeaux blend, her late husband’s favorite variety of wine, called ‘remembrance’ as a tribute to Ray and donation to Alzheimer’s research. The wine ‘remembrance’ was made exclusively for this cause and deserves to be drunk from arctic wine glasses with all the care it was made with.
With cases still left unsold ‘remembrance’ is still available to people wishing to make a delicious $12 donation to stopping the suffering of people like Ray and their families who must sit at their side. Sherrill believes that selling this wine and giving in total the $100,000 to research will help her finish the grieving process and move on. While a place in her heart will always belong to Ray, it is only right to continue to live.
