Just as with any industry winemakers too have waste and want to do their part to recycle and help the environment. In wine barrels over 200,000 are retired from California vineyards alone and that does not take into account the other wine areas around the world. This is a lot of natural materials in these wine barrels and most of them end up in the dump where they will simply rot away. Though some will be saved to become planters and decorations around some houses most still end up being trashed.
Now a company in California is using these disposed of wine barrels to create wine cellars that are more than just storage for wine but wine art instead. These wine cellars constructed from old discarded wine barrels using mortise and tenon construction. This means that the fine wood from these castoff barrels is constructed into a gorgeous wine cellar with storage racks all put together without the use of staples, screws, or nails.
For those who truly want to do their part to save the planet that need more wine storage in their home these cellars are an excellent way to go green. Not only are the beautiful to see but also they recycle wine barrels that once held fine wine.
