Preparing for your first wine and cheese party can be a little daunting but with a little care everything will be perfect and your guests will feel you are an excellent host. While most first timers fret over the actual selection of what wines will be consumed and which cheeses will be served on the cheese boards others worry about the presentation of the tables.
Cutting up your cheese for serving may sound like something that is extremely easy, and for the most part it is. But there is more to it than just slicing off a few pieces on the cheese board you will be also serving them on. First always start with a good cheese knife or you will never get good uniform cuts since your knife is inadequate. It is also extremely useful to allow the cheese to come to room temperature before you begin slicing it. This allows the cheese to soften making it much simpler to cut through. It is recommended when serving several types of cheese at your wine party that you provide a different cheese board for each type. This will keep the cheeses from blending together and mixing the flavors so each retains its own qualities.
