As we get further into spring and closer to May and June for many couples the one thing on their mind is a planned spring wedding. While there are literally hundreds of details that need setup and arranged one that can be very challenging is paring the wine which will be consumed while the cake is being served. While most often this is a champagne or sparkling wine to mark the occasion as a celebration some vintages can fall a little flat when served with a very sweet cake.
It is recommended that couples find a sparkling wine that is as sweet as possible in order to pare up well with that wedding cake to serve in their stemless wine glasses or other crystal ware. Also do not be afraid of trying each one along with a similar cake in advance to ensure that the paring is one that is acceptable on the palate. It would be terrible to find out the day of the wedding that the cake and wine do not compliment each other and the taste of both are ruined by each other. Preparation is the key to a good wedding for everything from the dress to the wine for each course.
