Chianti wine was classically sold in wine wide wine bottles that featured a basket on the bottom portion. Most often seen served alongside a candle on a checkered table cloth this red Italian wine has been portrayed in many paintings throughout the centuries. This cross between a basket and bottle is called a fiasco, but few makers of Chianti use this traditional packaging and opt instead for a modern wine bottle.
Chianti is a strong and bold wine with a taste that appeals to many novice wine drinkers due to its “fruity” palate. This table wine pares well with food that features a lot of seasoning, of course most notably many Italian dishes from the same region of Tuscany.
This carefully monitored blend of sangiovese and canaiolo grapes along with another approved grape makes for a wine that is sometimes referred to the Bordeaux of Italy. Most often served in Chianti wine glasses which features a tight bowl with a tall chimney which will perfectly pair the high alcohol content along with the fruity blend. These glasses are designed to help direct the Chianti to the proper part of the palate to get the most from this delicious wine from Italy.
