With New Years Eve quickly approaching those looking to celebrate the old year and ring in the new one are running to their local spirits shop to purchase nice champagne for the occasion. Of course many feel that the famous pop off uncorking a bottle of bubbly champagne is part of the fun but true wine lovers know this is not the proper way to open the drink. Champagne is under such pressure that much of the wine comes out with the cork wasting much of the purchase.
To avoid the pop and open the champagne properly the bottle needs to be chilled to 45 degrees by either spending about three hours in a refrigerator or in a bucket of ice for about 20 minutes. Once chilled the cork should be slowly eased out in order to keep it from exploding out from the pressure that is inside.
Once open it is important to use fluted glasses for champagnes since these wine accessories encourage the bubbles to collect and rise to the top of the glass. This will give the full aroma, which is a big part of the experience of enjoying a glass of champagne to celebrate the New Year.
