Available exclusively at Park Slope, Brooklyn’s Red White & Bubbly, Feliz Red is a delightful little table wine that scored big points with our friends last week at an impromptu dinner party. This 2005 blend of Zinfandel, Barbera and Syrah was exactly what we were seeking for a weeknight dinner of steak and panzanella salad – it was unpretentious in both taste and price (at $13.95 a bottle), with a deep color and rich, fruity flavor – finished with a light smokiness.
The proprietors of this smart wine shop worked closely with winemaker Clark Smith to create this blend, and its left me intrigued to try the other wines that are available in the Brooklyn Wine Company 3 pack – the Feliz White, also normally $13.95 per bottle, and the Grand Army Meritage, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, at $25.95. The 3 pack is offered at a 10% discount.
The store also had some other great deals, like the “Best Buys” table – featuring two whites and two reds, alternated monthly, at $10 or less per bottle. Write ups of each wine are down to earth and genuine, and a 10% discount is available if you decide to try all four.
