Our meals during the summer are understandably light as the warmer temperatures make us want to eat smaller, lighter meals. But as fall comes around we head back to cooking in the oven and meals that include roasts, fowl, and seasonal fall vegetables. While we often hear about paring a quality wine with our food is a real wine art, it is not as hard as many make it sound.
Our fall meals full of comfort foods are actually really easy to pare with a fine wine. A slow roasted bird with a side of vegetables goes perfectly with a glass of fall harvest white wine. These white wines are full of flavor and usually have a slightly darker color that pares well with the foods that are filling the stores for the fall.
When pared with mushrooms, apples, pears, and other fall foods these wines add to the meal for a table setting that is warming and comforting. On your next shopping trip pick up those comfort foods and prepare a meal that will warm you all over and be full of flavor when combined with an excellent fall harvest white wine. Whether cooking for a group of friends or just for two this meal will be sure to please as we welcome in the fall colors and harvest.
