Many wine enthusiasts use this time of year to host holiday wine and cheese parties that bring together their family and friends to enjoy each other’s company. For these individuals bringing together great tasting wines and cheese boards full of delicious cheeses makes for a perfect event. Though others are finding a way to add to the fun and conversation by doing a blind tasting where each contributes their thoughts on the taste.
While doing blind wine tasting may seem like a odd way to enjoy wine many are finding out this is a great way to try new wines. Whether we choose to or not our minds make pre-conceived notions of how we think a wine will taste based upon our visual cues by not seeing the bottle this will take some of those cues away.
When a new wine is consumed in this way many feel that they can taste small nuisances in the wine that they were not able to detect any other time. At one of these parties each guest should make notes on each wine making it a fun way for everyone to compare thoughts about each taste of each wine served.
