Looking for the perfect way to match hors d’oeuvres and wine for your next get together? Once a month, we will share with you an appetizer and wine pairing that’s made in heaven…starting with a Prosciutto Wrapped Crudite paired with a Chardonnay blend, as suggested by Giada De Laurentiis.
Prosciutto Wrapped Crudite
20 paper thin slices of prosciutto or speck
1 fennel bulb, cored & thinly sliced lengthwise
1/2 each red, orange, & yellow bell pepper, cut into thin strips
15 stalks blanched broccolini
good olive oil for drizzling
salt & pepper
freshly shaved parmesan
Working with one slice of prosciutto at a time, cut the slices lengthwise in half. Bundle together 3 fennel slices, and wrap with prosciutto, allowing the fennel to extend outside. Bundle one strip each of the peppers, and again wrap with the prosciutto, allowing the peppers to extend beyond the prosciutto. Wrap the broccolini separately, and arrange the vegetable on a platter. Drizzle with olive oil. Shave fresh parmesan over the vegetables, sprinkle with salt & pepper, and serve.
Pair it with this lovely Chardonnay blend:
